CANTON -- The SUNY Canton Center for Lifelong Learning is offering classes for aspiring and currently employed security guards in December.
The college will offer a course in pre-assignment training and an annual in-service training course.
Both are approved by the Office of Public Safety and the state Division of Criminal Justice Services and are mandated by the state Security Guard Act of 1992. University Police Deputy Chief Steven L. Livernois will lead the classes.
The eight-hour pre-assignment training course will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10 in SUNY Canton Payson Hall Room 111.
The eight-hour annual in-service training course, which requires participants to be currently employed as security guards, will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11 in Payson Hall Room 111.
Each class costs $85 and all class materials are included.
