A picture perfect day is expected across the North Country today with sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The same cannot be said for Sunday when widespread rain showers and gusty winds are expected during daylight hours, NWS says. Winds and shower activity will diminish Sunday night with high pressure building back into the region for the first half of next week with below normal temperatures expected.
Highs Sunday will be around 69 with a 100% chance of rain.
Additional frost will be possible across Northern New York Monday night and Tuesday
night before temperatures begin to warm on Wednesday, the service says.
Another cold front on Thursday or Friday will bring cooler temperatures back to
the region for next weekend, NWS says.
The forecast through Friday is as follows:
Sunday
Showers. High near 69. South wind 13 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Sunday Night
Showers likely, mainly before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. Southwest wind 8 to 13 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Monday
Partly sunny, with a high near 62. Northwest wind 6 to 10 mph.
Monday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 38. Light north wind.
Tuesday
Sunny, with a high near 63. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph in the afternoon.
Tuesday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 47. South wind 6 to 10 mph.
Wednesday
Sunny, with a high near 73. Southwest wind 11 to 15 mph.
Wednesday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 55. Southwest wind around 11 mph.
