Dry weather will continue for today in St. Lawrence County with high temperatures a few degrees above seasonal normals, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Expect a high today around 80 with light winds, the service says. An overnight low of 59 and a chance of showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast.
A developing upper level trough of low pressure will slowly move into the region tonight and not exit to the east until Wednesday. As a result there is a high likelihood for widespread rain later tonight and especially on Monday. There may even be some thunderstorms Monday afternoon.
The precipitation will be more showery on Tuesday before tapering off on Wednesday.
The forecast through Saturday is as follows:
Monday
A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 3pm. High near 74. Southwest wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Monday Night
Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. Southwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tuesday
A 40 percent chance of showers before 5pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 73. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
