NORWOOD -- The Norwood Lake Association has been active with events and donations to local causes from stocking the lake with fish to rebuilding the Norwood Beach gazebo.

The association recently served breakfast at the Norwood Municipal Building and donated the profit to furnish the new community kitchen with over $600 in equipment.

This year they will spend $3,000 to stock Norwood Lake for the third year, in partnership with Brookfield Power. They rebuilt the rear wall on the News Block Building which will serve as a future rail museum at a cost of $4,000.

They rebuilt the gazebo at Norwood Beach as a rest for boaters on the lake at a cost of $2,000 and will replace the roof this fall. They will again this year purchase and serve food for youngsters participating in the summer recreation program. They also provide the dock at the local boat launch.

The Norwood Lake Association established and has operated the Norwood Recycling Center for 22 years. It is operated by volunteers and accepts a wide range of material at no cost to Norwood residents. Material accepted is listed on village web site at norwoodny.org then to Norwood Recycling Center web page.

They will stage the 22nd Norwood Lake Regatta at Norwood Beach on Aug. 25 and 26 this year. Pro and semi-pro watercross racing (snowmobiles on water), will return for the event.

Lake Association members assist other organizations and local residents in many ways, and work to ensure good water quality at Norwood Lake.
