POTSDAM – The Potsdam Snack Pack Program received a $1,500 donation from the Stewart’s Shops Holiday Match Program. According to the Holiday Match Team, the organization received 1,990 applications requesting nearly $5 million in support while they had just over $2 million to donate.
Program Executive Director, Laurell Brault, said this was the fifth consecutive year that Stewart’s Shops has donated funds to the program.
“Stewart’s continues to be a strong supporter of the program and their contributions extend beyond the grant. The funds received will help us finish the year strong and continue to provide healthy snacks and lunch items to more than 340 students each week,” said Brault.
Between September 2022 and March 2023, volunteers prepared 7,472 snack packs for students across the school district.
As an all-volunteer organization, the snack pack program is totally dependent on the generosity and involvement of community members and organizations. During calendar year 2022 approximately fifty-seven percent of donations came from businesses and organizations. As the program celebrates almost seven years since it was launched in November 2016, it’s clear that community support does not seem to be slowing down.
