State to allow high-risk HS sports to begin Feb. 1, which includes St. Lawrence County athletes

Athletes in St. Lawrence County high schools could soon be back on the fields and courts now that the state has released new guidance for sports allowing high-risk sports to resume Feb. 1.

Teams can resume individual or distanced group training and organized no/low-contact group training and, may partake in other types of play, including competitions and tournaments, only as permitted by the respective local health authorities.

This includes hockey, football, basketball, wrestling, volleyball,, lacrosse, competitive cheer and group dance, and other sports and recreation activities with similar abilities to maintain physical distance.

Local schools will likely take an individual or regional approach to allowing sports.
