FINE -- A Star Lake woman faces felony charges after St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies say she endangered the welfare of a 94-year-old man who is now deceased.
Mary J. McBroom, 33, 933 Oswegatchie Trail, Star Lake was charged Wednesday with endangering the welfare of Floyd R. McBroom, 94, of the same address, who was deemed a vulnerable elderly person, according to deputies.
The arrest was the result of an investigation into the alleged abuse and neglect of Mr. McBroom. St. Lawrence County Adult Protective Services requested medical care for Mr. McBroom following a home-visit that occurred Jan. 26.
McBroom was subsequently admitted to Clifton-Fine hospital and later transferred to upstate Medical Center where he was treated for injuries related to abuse and neglect.
McBroom died April 30 from what, deputies say, were unrelated circumstances. McBroom is scheduled to answer the charge in Fine Town Court May 22.
