CANTON -- People in Star Lake will soon be able to take the St. Lawrence County public transit bus to Harrisville.
The St. Lawrence County legislature at their Dec. 2 meeting voted unanimously to authorize the ARC of Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties, which operates the bus routes, to apply to the state to add the stop.
The resolution says "impacted people of Star Lake have expressed an interest in reaching Harrisville in Lewis County to access shopping options."
"I had heard the term 'food desert' a couple of years ago ... we certainly have a couple areas, being a rural county," said St. Lawrence County Legislator Larry Denesha, R-DeKalb, prior to introducing the resolution.
