ST. REGIS FALLS – The St. Regis Falls Board of Education appointed as interim superintendent a local retired school administrator, Dr. Randy Richards.
Board members also approved at their Tuesday night meeting a timeline for the search for a new superintendent. They will accept applications through the end of February and hold interviews in March. They hope to appoint a new superintendent in April to start on July 1.
Franklin-Essex-Hamilton BOCES will facilitate the superintendent search.
Richards, who lives in Winthrop, has agreed to serve through the end of the school year.
“We appreciate Dr. Richards stepping in to oversee our district through the remainder of the school year while we work on finding a more permanent leader for the district,” said school board President Matt Goodrow.
Richards most recently worked as an educational consultant for PLC Associates helping school districts with COVID safety plans, strategic planning, leadership development and other initiatives. He retired as superintendent of Waverly Central School District in 2017, and he also had experience leading school districts in Hammond, Lake Placid and Munnsville. He holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Miami and two Master of Education degrees from St. Lawrence University.
Dale Breault Jr., district superintendent for Franklin-Essex-Hamilton BOCES, has been serving as acting superintendent for the school district since early December, when Dr. Anne Young resigned as superintendent of schools.
