CANTON — Teens interested in attending New York State DEC summer camps in 2022 can now apply for sponsorship opportunities to attend.
The St. Lawrence County Trappers Association will sponsor a handful of teens for the week long adventures in conservation education.
The sponsorships are open to New York residents, ages 11-17.
“DEC camps provide the young people of New York State the opportunity to explore the beauty of our shared landscape while learning about natural resource conservation and the role that they might play as stewards of New York’s air, water, forests and wildlife,” officials said in a press release.
DEC education camp staff guide campers through a week of activities that center around fields, forests, streams and ponds to learn of the interconnectedness of nature.
Campers will be able to experience and improve upon their skills in a wide variety of outdoor sporting interests including fishing, bird watching, orienteering, fly-tying, canoeing, hiking, camping, hunter safety and trapping.
Those interested in attending a session who may require a sponsorship from the St. Lawrence County Trappers Association should contact Jim Aubrey at (315) 389-5096 by Jan. 7.
A letter of interest, stating motivations to attend, should be received by SLCTA by the Jan. 7 deadline as well.
Letters should be mailed to PO Box 148, Canton, NY 13617.
