North Country This Week
CANTON — St. Lawrence County Public Health has received $72,000 from the Overdose Data to Action Grant.
County Legislators unanimously approved the acceptance of funding on Aug. 1 during a full board meeting.
According to the resolution, the $72,000 in funding comes from the New York State Department of Health “to address the opioid epidemic in the community.”
Uses of the funding will include interventions, to increase access to Naloxone and Fentanyl test strips for community members at high-risk of experiencing an overdose, to provide education on substance use, overdose prevention, as well as stigma and mental health awareness, the resolution states.
St. Lawrence County Correctional officers will also receive training on trauma-informed care within the correctional facility, according to officials.
