No new COVID-19 cases were reported to St. Lawrence County Public Health over the weekend or on Monday, Aug. 10.

The St. Lawrence County Public Health Department reports that it received notice of a positive COVID-19 case on Aug. 4, which has since been determined to be due to a lab error.

As part of a quality check performed by the reference laboratory used by the clinic that administered the test to a St. Lawrence County patient initially, it was determined that the test was processed correctly, but analyzed incorrectly.

After investigation, inaccuracy of the results was due to human error, said Public Health.

The investigation by the New York State Department of Health determined that the reference laboratory had a staff person who analyzed these results inaccurately.

The individual who was initially determined to be positive has been released from isolation and the contacts of this individual have been released from quarantine.
