The St. Lawrence County Multi-Use Trail will open on Saturday, Dec. 15, as well as county snowmobile trails, if sufficient snow is available.
The St. Lawrence County Multi-Use Trail Committee and the snowmobile clubs strongly encourage all users of both trail systems to follow all rules and regulations to ensure that everyone can enjoy activities on trails.
Motorized modes of transportation yield the right of way to all other trail users. The St. Lawrence County Recreational Trails Advisory Board urges all riders to ensure that snow machines are registered, insured, and proper maintenance has been performed prior to hitting the trails.
Safety tips include wearing an approved helmet, having a fully charged cell phone, along with food and drink available in case of breakdown, proper tools to make repairs to machines, and to travel under the “buddy system.”
“The bottom line is be safe and be aware of other persons using the trails,” said Bill Swafford of the St. Lawrence County Recreational Trails Advisory Board.
