MACOMB -- A St. Lawrence County man died following a motorcycle crash Monday afternoon, according to state police.

State police in Philadelphia are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on County Route 22 in the town of Theresa in Jefferson County at 3:19 p.m. Troopers said they responded to the area of 31519 County Rt. 22 for a reported motorcycle off the roadway and down an embankment.

The preliminary investigation has determined the operator, 55-year-old Brett A. Vansant, from Macomb, was traveling north on County Route 22 when he failed to negotiate a left turn in the roadway, officers said.

The motorcycle subsequently traveled off the east shoulder of the roadway and down an embankment causing Vansant to be ejected, police said.

Vansant was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
