St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency spent $7.8 million to create 542 jobs in 2016, according to a release from the State Comptroller’s Office.
According to the report, the 28 projects had a total value of $174.1 million and included $1 million in tax exemptions with $100,000 in payment in lieu of taxes agreements.
The report says St. Lawrence County IDA estimated creating 235 jobs and helped businesses retain 1,952 jobs. However the IDA actually helped create about 542 jobs for companies involved in the 28 projects.
The report estimates SLC IDA spent $14,399 for each job gained and spent an average of $278.459 per project.
Additionally a bout $1,693 in tax exemptions were provided for each job gained and provided about $32,732 in exemptions per project.
