CANTON – The St. Lawrence County Historical Association is searching for a volunteer managing editor for its Quarterly Magazine.
The Quarterly has been published since the mid-1950s as a benefit of SLCHA membership and an aid to research. It features original articles about people and events in the county, written by a wide variety of professionals, amateurs, hobbyists, and collectors.
A publications committee composed of the executive director, volunteers from the Board of Trustees, and community members, guided by a managing editor, selects and edits the Quarterly's content. The committee recruits items, receives volunteered items from readers, and sometimes writes its own items.
The successful candidate should have a deep passion for history, be knowledgeable on grammar and editing styles, have excellent communication skills, be able to commit and work with our team, and can meet Quarterly deadlines to the graphic designer: by Feb. 1, May 1, Aug. 1, and Nov. 1. The editor receives credit on the contents page of each issue. If interested, contact the staff at SLCHA.
