St. Lawrence County Historical Assn. benefitting from $25,000 matching grant

CANTON – A partnership between the St. Lawrence County Historical Association and the Northern New York Community Foundation reached its peak in October with the SLCHA fulfilling its $25,000 matching grant with NNYCF.

“The St. Lawrence County Historical Association takes great pride in partnering with the Northern New York Community Fund as we both strive to strengthen our endowments and long-range fiscal stability,” stated Lance W. Rudiger, president of the SLCHA Board of Trustees. “This matching grant helps increase the value of each contribution to our endowment campaign.”

The matching grant was initiated in April 2019 near the onset of the SLCHA’s $500,000 endowment campaign, fittingly called Campaign for the People of St. Lawrence County.

‘We are so grateful for such a meaningful partnership and all that it represents for the history, heritage and people of St. Lawrence County,” said NNYCF Executive Director Rande Richardson. “We are always looking for the best ways to connect people who care with causes that matter. It makes a difference to so many, both today, tomorrow and forever.”

Rudiger applauded the partnership and expressed an enthusiastic scenario for the Historical Association for years to come.

“In the future we plan greater electronic access to archives and collections so our patrons can enjoy that access no matter how hard the wind is blowing or snow is falling during our sometimes dark and bleak winter months,” he said.

SLCHA’s endowment campaign has reach the 59 percent mark with nearly $295,000 raised.
