St. Lawrence County Fair kicks off soon, country star John Michael Montgomery to headline event

GOUVERNEUR – Country superstar John Michael Montgomery will be headlining this year’s Gouverneur and St. Lawrence County Fair with performance at the grandstand on Tuesday, July 30 at 8 p.m.

The fair will follow up with performances by the Amish Outlaws on Thursday, Aug. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and local favorites Fully Completely Hip, a Tragically Hip tribute band, on Saturday, Aug. 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Demolition derby, food, parade, rides from Coleman Brothers Shows and midway games will also be part of the action during fair week from July 27-Aug. 4.

John Michael Montgomery

John Michael Montgomery’s origins lie in playing in the family band growing up in Kentucky, said the artist’s website.

By the early ‘90s he had a record deal.

The hits followed steadily, with songs like “Rope The Moon,” “If You’ve Got Love,” “No Man’s Land,” “Cowboy Love,” “As Long As I Live,” “Friends” and “How Was I To Know” establishing him as one of the elite acts of the era.

He received the CMA Horizon award and was named the ACM’s Top New Vocalist, setting off a long series of awards that included the CMA’s Single and Song of the Year, Billboard’s Top Country Artist, and a Grammy nomination.

Amish Outlaws

The Amish Outlaws will perform Thursday, Aug. 1 at 7:30 p.m.

The Amish Outlaws constantly surprise the audience and keep them guessing as to what they could possibly play next, from Johnny Cash to Jay Z, Lady Gaga to Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, Pitbull to Elvis Presley, Luke Bryan to Dropkick Murphys, to theme songs from the TV shows they have come to know.

Throughout, The Outlaws spin yarns about the Brothers' upbringing and adventures since Rumpspringa.

Amish Outlaw gigs are less performances than they are initiations into the life of an Amish Outlaw and parties celebrating the Brothers' newfound freedom.

Fully Completely

Fully Completely Hip will perform Saturday, Aug. 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Fully Completely is the premiere Tragically Hip tribute band in Canada.

With a wide variety of Hip songs in their repertoire, Fully Completely will bring all the magic and emotion that fans love about the Tragically Hip to the Gouverneur grand stands.

All grandstand show tickets can be purchased by calling the fair office at 315-287-3010, or online at www.gouverneurfair.net.
