CANTON -- St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce is holding a contest for a new shop local logo.

“The contest will allow creative people around the county to have a chance to be a part of this exciting project aimed at increasing spending, support and awareness for businesses and organizations in St. Lawrence County’ noted Brooke Rouse, Executive Director of the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.

The guidelines, which can be found at www.SLCchamber.org note that the ‘design should be dynamic, unique, creative, and incorporate the full name of the initiative: “Local First SLC” with the tag line “Think Local, Buy Local, Support Local.” It continues, “the logo may incorporate other imagery so long as the full Initiative name is included somewhere in the logo.

To this extent, the full Initiative name can be displayed in a smaller font size than the main image, if there exists a main image. Imagery should reflect the landscape, culture and/or identify of St. Lawrence County and the multi-faceted goal of the Initiative; to increase local spending, local support for communities and organizations, the environment and people, and to pause and think, and make local jobs, businesses, organizations and people a priority.”

The logo will be used for window decals, bumper stickers, T-shirts and tote bags, as well as for a new website. The deadline for submission is March 27 at 4 p.m., emailed to brooke@slcchamber.org. Contest rules and submission form can be found at www.SLCchamber.org.

The winning design will be chosen by the ‘Local First SLC’ volunteer committee, made up of community Chamber Directors, business owners and promoters. The winner will receive a bumper sticker, t-shirt and tote bag with the logo.
