GOUVERNEUR -- The St. Lawrence County Cancer Fund, a volunteer organization dedicated to fighting cancer within the county, recently made a donation to the St. Lawrence Health System’s Gouverneur Hospital.
The funds will be used to support programs that provide mammograms, and early detection lung cancer CT scanning to uninsured and under-insured community members. Gouverneur Hospital offers 3D digital mammography, as well as low-dose CT scanning equipment.
“Gouverneur Hospital provides patients with state-of-the-art equipment for cancer screenings and can often accommodate same day image testing. It’s vital that individuals receive yearly screenings and the easier and more efficient we can make each experience, the more likely people will be to get tested,” noted Chief Executive Officer Eric Burch.
Burch made note of the several professionals who work closely with Gouverneur Hospital’s radiologists and team of registered imaging specialists.
