St. Lawrence County Board of Elections finishes counting all ballots, certifies winners

CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Board of Elections has finished counting all of the ballots and certified election winners.

For President and Vice President, Republican Donald J.Trump and Michael R. Pence received 24,608 votes, and Democrat Joseph R. Biden and Kamala D.Harris received 19,361 votes.

For St. Lawrence County Court judge, Republican Greg Storie was elected with 24,636 votes to Democrat Nicole Duvé's 19,199.

There were three races for St. Lawrence County legislature, all of which were won by incumbents.

In District 5, Republican Harry Smithers II was elected 1,260 votes to Democrat Amber Ormasen's 976.

In District 10, Democrat Margaret Haggard won with 867 votes to Republican Brenda Spurbeck's 327.

In District 11, Democrat Suzanne Fiacco was the winner with 1,478 votes to Republican Chad Colbert's 1,342.

In the City of Ogdensburg, Marcia LaMay was elected City Court justice with 2,995 to Ramona Breen's 652.

In the Town of Canton, Rachelle Foster (R) won with 2,257 votes to independent candidate Rosemary Phillips with 1,063 votes.

In the Village of Waddington, James Thew (R) and Benny Fairchild (D) were re-elected with 301 and 300 votes, respectively. Sean McGee (D) and Michael Miller (R) respectively tallied 254 and 249 votes.

There were two races with no candidates on the ballot that write-in votes decided. Cynthia Weaver was elected town justice in Depeyster, and Jeremy Thompson was voted in as Fine town supervisor.

In the Town of Hammond, voters decided against a proposal to change the highway superintendent from elected to appointed office. The no votes won, 457 to 110 yes.

Also in Hammond, Rhonda Cazziol (independent) was voted in as town justice with 305 votes to 256 for Sonja Kocan (D).

Scott Cleveland (R) won a 1-year unexpired seat on the Fowler Town Council 582 votes to 403 for Leo Knight Jr. (D).

St. Lawrence County voters also preferred Elise Stefanik (R) for Congress over Tedra Cobb (D). Their respective vote counts are 26,138 and 18,375.

In the 116th Assembly District, which includes all St. Lawrence County towns along the St. Lawrence River plus Canton and Potsdam, Mark Walczyk (R) received 15,412 to 11,106 for Alex Hammond (D).

In the race for the 45th Senate District, which includes eastern St. Lawrence County, voters cast 2,046 ballots for Dan Stec (R) and 1,117 for Kim Davis (D).
