CANTON — St. Lawrence County highway department facilities in Potsdam, Lisbon and Russell are all receiving fuel systems after receiving approval during the County Legislature’s full board meeting on Oct 3.

The approval means both the Lisbon and Potsdam highway facilities will receive new fuel systems, while the location in Russell will see an existing, older tank replaced, officials say.

The work will be completed by Lawman Heating and Cooling and is to not exceed $53,000, according to the resolution.

Construction is complete at both the new Lisbon and Russell outposts, paving the way for the fuel stations to be installed.

Lawman Heating and Cooling are expected to create the foundation for fuel islands at all three outposts, according to the resolution.

Officials had previously outlined the use of the stations, saying salt and sand storage would be utilized at each site along with equipment storage for winter maintenance.

Both the Lisbon and Potsdam locations are new construction, while the Russell location is an expansion upon an older, smaller outpost, county officials said.

County legislators also signed off on a permanent easement with National Grid for utility deliveries, a technicality that needed to be completed so power could be delivered to highway department facilities.

County legislators also authorized a service agreement with Trane US, Inc. for maintenance of specialized HVAC units throughout Department of Highway buildings.

The service agreement will include the new outposts in Lisbon, Potsdam and Russell.

The renewal documents cover the period of Oct. 1, 2022 to Sept. 30, 2023 and will total $20,846.58.
