OGDENSBURG – Newly elected New York State Senator Patricia A. Ritchie (R,C-Heuvelton) took the oath of office shortly after midnight on New Year’s Day.
The oath was administered by acting St. Lawrence County Clerk Mary Lou Rupp.
As Senator Ritchie's husband, Thomas, held the family's four generation Bible, Mrs. Ritchie pledged to a group of relatives, friends and supporters who had gathered at the Phoenix on the Bay that she would work hard for the people of the 48th Senate District, comprising the western half of St. Lawrence County as well as Jefferson and Oswego Counties.
Senator Ritchie was elected on Nov. 2, defeating an eight-year Democratic incumbent Darrel Aubertine.
