State Sen. Patty Ritchie (R-Heuvelton) has been named to a special Senate budget subcommittee assigned to review the governor’s proposed budget.
The subcommittee will review the transportation, motor vehicles, environment, agriculture, energy, parks, and housing sections of the proposed budget.
Ritchie said, “I think it’s important for the Senate to work with the governor to find ways to streamline government operations without imposing new taxes and burdensome fees.”
Budget panels have been asked to begin meeting soon on an accelerated basis to have recommendations by March 5 so the legislature can adopt an on-time budget for the second year in a row by April 1.
