GOUVERNEUR – A second Gouverneur man has been jailed on $10,000 cash bail in a case of burglary and assault early Sunday.

Franklin J. Ablan, 18, 96 Williams St., was charged Monday with first-degree burglary, a Class B felony, and fourth-degree conspiracy, a Class E felony after investigation by St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies of an assault complaint received through a 911 call at 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies said Ablan and co-defendant Nico J. DeVito, 21, 25 Sterling St., entered the residence of DeVito’s ex-girlfriend Brittany-Far White on County Rt. 12 early Sunday and assaulted Nathan E. Foster and Jacob. D. Vaornum.

Deputies said one of the males suffered an orbital fracture, which involves damage to the eye socket.

DeVito left the residence on County Route 12, also known as the Johnstown Road, before deputies arrived, but he was located a short time later.

Ablan was arraigned before Judge Riordan in Town of Gouverneur Court and is held on $10,000 cash or $20,000 bail bond.

DeVito was arraigned in Fowler Town Court for first degree assault, a Class B felony; assault second degree, a Class D felony; assault third degree, a Class A misdemeanor; and criminal obstruction of breathing, a Class A Misdemeanor, and also held on $10,000 cash or $20,000 bail bond.

Orders of protection were issued to the victims in the incident, deputies said.
