Republican State Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava formally endorsed Congressman Bill Owens in his reelection campaign for New York's 23rd Congressional District.
“At a time when our nation is polarized by partisan divide, Congressman Owens provides the type of leadership we need that will work across the aisle for the best interest of all the citizens of New York’s 23rd Congressional District,” said Scozzafava.
"I am honored to receive this support from Assemblywoman Scozzafava," said Owens. "I believe this comes from our positive message of working with Democrats as well as Republicans to create jobs and find common sense solutions to the problems that our communities face."
Scozzafava, who represents the 122nd Assembly District, was joined by several Republican elected officials and area leaders to highlight their support for Owens.
Owens was also officially endorsed by Granby Town Supervisor Ed Williamson (R) and 1st Ward Alderman Tom Kenyon (R) from the City of Fulton.
Owens' campaign says the congressman has also been endorsed by people who have worked closely with his opponent, Matt Doheny.
“I knew Matt Doheny when he was a student at Allegheny College and I was Allegheny’s president,” said Daniel F. Sullivan. “As I hear him now he brings only tired slogans to the table. Bill Owens recognizes the complexity of our times, and studies the evidence for and against specific policy proposals with open-mindedness and intellectual integrity. Bill Owens deserves our support.”
