The decision was made through multiple meetings with seniors and parents.

The date of the ceremony will be set depending on guidance from the state.

The ceremony will be July 17. If no change occurs by July 7, the graduation will be pushed to August 7.

If no change occurs by August and the class will be splint into 3-4 groups and conduct several ceremonies on the turf at dates to be determined.

Massena

In Massena, graduation will be held July 25 at 7 p.m. on the high school turf field.

A rain date of July 26 has been established in case of inclement weather.

“Though the governor has now stated that 150 people can attend a graduation ceremony, that does not change the plans for drive through graduations as the graduates plus family in most schools would exceed this threshold,” Massena School Superintendent Pat Brady said. “Massena who has 178 possible graduates in this Class of 2020, we already exceed the limit. With information changing by the week in regard to COVID, the hope is that a delay will get us as close to a traditional graduation as possible. If not, we can still hold a drive through graduation on the same date instead of the more traditional format.”
