Scattered showers, thunderstoms expected all weekend in St. Lawrence County; rain may be heavy at times

Tropical Storm Fay continues to move northward out of the Hudson River Valley and will track over the Champlain Valley into southern Quebec by this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Chances for rain, which may be heavy at times, will continue through the morning hours, NWS says. Highest precipitation totals will be across Northern New York.

The high today will be around 83 with a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms. New rainfall will likely be between a quarter and half inch.

Scattered showers and thunderstorm will be likely Saturday night as another front crosses the area, the service says. Expect an overnight low around 69.

The forecast through Friday is as follows:

Sunday

A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. West wind 9 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday Night

A 40 percent chance of showers before 11pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 63. Southwest wind around 6 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Monday

A chance of showers between 10am and 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 79. Light and variable wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday Night

A chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight, then a chance of showers between midnight and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. Light west wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
