RENSSELAER FALLS - Surpassing the halfway mark of a $30,000 fundraising effort, the third annual Rensselaer Falls Fire and Rescue Run for the Truck will look to chip into that total on Oct. 3.
The 15K and 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8 a.m. at the Rensselaer Falls Fire Department at 8 a.m. The event is hosted by the Rensselaer Falls Truck Refurbishment Committee.
“All proceeds raised from this event will go towards the refurbishment of the fire department’s 1947 International fire truck,” said Heidi Smith, committee spokesperson. “The goal for this fire truck is to have it fully restored to be used in local parades and other local events to represent the Rensselaer Falls Fire and Rescue Department.
The cost for the race is $35 for the 15K and $20 for the 5K. Interested participants can sign up online at https://runsignup.com/Race/NY/RensselaerFalls/RFFRRunfortheTruck15K5K
At the conclusion of the race, there will be snacks and refreshments for all racers and a ticket from the Lottery Frame Raffle will be drawn.
The committee is accepting donations and sponsors for the fall event. Anyone interested in making a donation, or for more information, contact Smith at 315 528-3992 or email smithhl14@yahoo.com
