RICHVILLE -- The Village of Richville will host the 8th annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the playground field.

This year’s event will have a law enforcement element to it. Officers from several different police agencies including SUNY Police, NYS Forest Rangers, DEC Officers, St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and NY State Police will be on hand.

They will have a table to provide information to men and women about the benefits of a career in law enforcement. There will also be demonstrations of police K9 units as well as a child ID station run by the Sheriff’s office.

The addition of the law enforcement element came about because Richville Mayor Fenlong’s son Ryan Law SUNY Police Officer at SUNY New Paltz.

“I was talking to my son about the annual block party and he said why don’t we have a law enforcement presence,” said Mayor Fenlong. “He agreed and we’ve had a really good response from the different units and I think people will enjoy this new addition to the festival.”

“Growing up in the North Country, I never knew about jobs like becoming a SUNY Police Officer or Forest Ranger,” said Ryan Law, SUNY Police Officer. “I think it would be great if we got a few people to pursue a career in law enforcement because of this outreach.”

The event is open to all and will feature a DJ all day, inflatable obstacle course, bounce houses, more than 20 crafters and vendors, auctions, raffles, local craft beer, food, chicken barbecue at noon, face painting, fire trucks, pumpkins, mums and more.

A block party featuring The Shoes will be held from 6-9 p.m.
