Revised St. Lawrence County forecast: up to 9 inches of snow by Saturday

Posted

Winter, as fickle as it has been this year, is not letting go just yet.

The National Weather Service has revised the forecast several times since yesterday, and is now forecasing two to four inches today, another two to four inches tonight and another inch on Saturday in central and northern St. Lawrence County.

A little more is expected around Star lake and Cranberry Lake, and a little less around Gouverneur.

The precipitation could begin as rain.

Highs today will be in the mid-30s. Lows tonight will be in the mid-20s, and not rising much during the day tomorrow.

Tomorrow night the clouds move out and the temperature drops to below zero, and with some breeze, wind chills could hit -17.

NWS meterologists say that a low pressure area over the Ohio Valley is moving northeast into the St Lawrence Valley this afternoon. Then a ridge of high pressure will build into the North Country on Sunday, clearing the skies for a sunny day. Highs Sunday will be around 20 degrees, lows Sunday night around 5 above.

Early next week, there is a chance of snow or rain predicted for Monday and Monday night and Wednesday and Thursday.
