RUSSELL — Three individuals were arrested on Sept. 10 in relation to an investigation initiated on Sept. 9, state police say.

28-year-old Miranda E. Laplant, Star Lake, reported a truck and trailer missing, according to police.

The investigation later revealed Laplant gave 31-year-old Kara L. McGregor, Dekalb, permission to use them, police say.

On Sept. 10, McGregor and 32-year-old Jordan J. Benjamin, Canton, were arrested while driving the truck, police say.

McGregor and Benjamin were charged with one count each of criminal possession of a controlled substance- seventh degree and criminal use of drug paraphernalia- second degree, police say.

They were found to be in possession of a quantity of heroin and several items of drug paraphernalia, according to police.

They were issued appearance tickets returnable to Town of Russell court.

McGregor was then relayed to state police in Watertown due to an active warrant for her arrest on a separate, unrelated case, police say.

Laplant was charged with falsely reporting an incident, police say.

She was issued an appearance ticket for the Clifton town court.

State police were assisted by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.
