The bipartisan committee tasked with finding at least $1.2 trillion in budget savings has launched a website and is now accepting suggestions on deficit reduction, and Congressman Bill Owens is urging residents in New York’s 23rd Congressional District to visit the website and share their ideas with the panel on how best to cut the deficit.
Said Owens, “The hard-working families of the region have balanced their budgets and made financial sacrifices for years, and I believe they can contribute valuable ideas to this process.”
Interested individuals can submit their suggestions directly at http://deficitreduction.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/contact, or read the latest news from the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction at www.deficitreduction.gov.
Owens, a Democrat from Plattsburgh, represents residents from Lake Champlain to Lake Ontario and into the Adirondacks.
