North Country Rep. Bill Owens claims he aided people seeking help from his office to the tune of $1.7 million.
In the first three months of 2012, Owens worked to secure $1,739,718.34 in benefits and tax breaks owed to those seeking help from his offices in New York’s 23rd Congressional District.
When constituent concerns involved questions about legislation or policy, Owens’ office responded to 12,932 pieces of correspondence in 2012 alone, according to an announcement from his office.
“Responding to constituent concerns and helping them to navigate the federal bureaucracy is one of the most important things I can do,” said Owens. “I am very pleased with the level of success we have seen in our ongoing fight to ensure that New Yorkers have their voices heard in Washington and that they receive the benefits and tax breaks they are due from the federal government.”
Since being elected to office in November of 2009, Owens has responded to 79,051 pieces of correspondence and secured more than $4,776,761.93 in due benefits for constituents.
