Rensselaer Falls residents accused of having meth and cane sword

OGDENSBURG -- Two Rensselaer Falls residents were arrested by Ogdensburg city police for methamphetamine possession, illegally possessing a cane sword and other charges on March 19.

Police said that while investigating a complaint of an alleged theft of Lye and drain opener from the local Walmart store on March 19, Ogdensburg patrols stopped a vehicle in the Seaway Plaza parking lot.

The vehicle was occupied by the driver, Kaitlyn A. Robinson, 28, and passenger, Jerome T. Dobbs, 31, both of 101 Front St., Rensselaer Falls. A subsequent investigation of the complaint led to officers discovering multiple components used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine in the vehicle.

Officers also discovered an illegal weapon and other illegal substances, including a quantity of crystal methamphetamine that was packaged for sale.

Dobbs was charged with unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine in the second degree, a “C” felony, based on his possession of meth manufacturing materials, and having a previous conviction for unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine. Dobbs was additionally charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a “D” felony, for possessing a quantity of crystal methamphetamine with intent to sell it, and Criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a “D” felony, for possessing a cane sword.

Robinson was charged with unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine in the third degree, a “D” felony, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a “D” felony, for the possession a quantity of crystal methamphetamine with intent to sell it, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a “D” felony, for possession of the cane sword, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, an “A” misdemeanor, for her possession of clonazepam, and was additionally charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree.

Both subjects were arraigned by Ogdensburg City Court Judge Gary Alford, and both subjects were released under the supervision of the probation department.
