MASSENA — With renovations ongoing at Massena Central School’s auditorium, plans have changed for this spring’s musical.

According to Director Chris Lincoln, this year’s event will be a musical revue featuring a wide range of musical numbers.

Much like the very popular Rocktober and June Rocks, the musical revue will be a stripped back event that will have a similar look and feel to Rocktober with a live band playing with the students.

“We will be performing 25 songs from a variety of musicals. Some of the musicals include Aladdin, Waitress, Greatest Showman, Hamilton, Tangled, Mulan, SiX, Grease, Annie, Mamma Mia, Dear Evan Hansen, and more,” Lincoln said.

A number of seniors will feature in what will be their final shows.

Chyler Richards and Kristen Oliver will be making their musical theater debuts but both have sung in Rocktober and June Rocks, Lincoln said.

Another first timer will be Ai Tanahashi, a foreign exchange student from Japan. Lincoln said this will be her MCHS Musical Theater debut.

Musical theater veteran Alyssa Fountaine, who has been in seven musicals from elementary school through high school, will also be performing.

Other senior performers include Jade McMillan, who made her debut in 2020 in the production of Newsies, Owen Barto and Zach Bressard who performed in High School Musical last year, Liam O’Neill who was cast in Newsies in 2020 and Elainie Closs, who worked as the show producer for last year’s High School Musical. Closs will be making her stage debut, however she has performed in Rocktober and June Rocks, Lincoln said.

The Musical Revue show has also experienced a date change and will now be performed on March 30-31 due to logistics and schedule conflicts.

The show will be held at the New Testament Church located at 265 Andrews St. in Massena.

Both shows begin at 7 p.m. and cost is $10 per ticket.
