Price Chopper/Market 32 is introducing a “Know Your Colors” nutrition guide on thousands of products in its stores to help shoppers find nutrition information on products in every Price Chopper, Market 32 and Market Bistro store.
The “Know Your Colors” program comprises eight nutritional attributes prominently featured on in-store shelf tags and online at www.pricechopper.com. Each attribute meets strict criteria that aligns with food nutrition labeling standards and supports consumers desire to learn more about making food choices that meet health and lifestyle needs.
The eight attributes are organic, gluten free, whole grain, low sodium, carb smart, heart smart, protein smart and plant powered. Each in-store product tag can feature up to three of these attributes while more may be featured online.
“The goal of the ‘Know Your Colors’ program is to really simplify shoppers’ ability to scan a product category and see which products might meet their personal health goals. The color coding makes it quick and easy and allows for comparisons of similar products which might meet different nutritional criteria,” said Price Chopper/Market 32 senior nutritionist Ellie Wilson, MS, RDN.
“Know Your Colors provides robust choices to those managing different nutritional concerns and plans. We hope that shoppers encourage their children to utilize the program by asking them to help pick out, for example, a whole grain cracker option by finding a product with a dark brown label. While other shoppers, who are concerned about finding gluten free products or following a lower carb diet, can quickly get information about the products which meet their goals,” said Wilson.
