FOWLER -- Fire Investigators have learned that there had been power problems along Dashner Rd. the day before a house at 17 Dashner Rd. burned early Sunday morning.
Fire investigators could not confirm that the outages contributed to the fire, which they said started in a basement electrical panel.
A newspaper delivery person notice the fire and called 911. Gouverneur firefighters were dispatched at 4:12 a.m.
When they arrived they found the house "fully involved."
Also on the scene were volunteers from Harrisville and Edwards volunteer departments. Gouverneur-based state police aided the St. Lawrence County Bureau of Fire in their investigation.
At first it was believed that the family -- Andrew, Joan, Jessica and Justice Simmons were at home, but state police verified that the family was out of town.
The fire was ruled an accident. The home is insured.
No injuries were reported, but the family cat is missing.
