POTSDAM – The Reachout crisis hotline is seeking bright, caring people to volunteer as crisis counselors to provide free, nonjudgemental intervention assistance, information and referrals.

The hotline handles thousands of calls a year involving mental health, suicide, alcoholism, drug abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault and basic needs like food and fuel.

Volunteers talk to callers directly and are personally involved in helping each person who calls.

Applications will be accepted through Sept. 27. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have reliable transportation, be able to volunteer at least five hours weekly and be available to attend training weekend Sept. 20 – Oct. 2.

For an application, visit www.reachouthotline.org/apply. More info: 265-2422.
