POTSDAM - All athletes from Potsdam and the surrounding area are invited to register for The Potsdam Youth Football Association (PYFA).
PYFA is a non-profit organization that provides the opportunity for children grades K-6 to learn and play the game of football.
Players will learn what it means to be a good teammate, develop positive cooperation skills, discipline, and fitness techniques. Along with these socialization lessons, players will also be encouraged to develop respect for themselves and others.
The PYFA will issue the necessary equipment for playing at each level which does include mouth guards for tackle football. Guardians will be responsible for cleats and any other additional equipment. Guardians will also be financially responsible for lost and/or damaged equipment.
All registration fees are required to be paid before the equipment can be issued to the player. The register form is available on the PYFA Facebook page.
Practice will start on Monday, Aug 16, at 6 p.m. on the Potsdam Central Athletic Fields.
Minors (grades 3-4) and Majors (grades 5-6) practice will practice from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with games on Saturday morning.
Flag (grades K-2) will practice twice a week: To start Monday and Wednesday
A mandatory parents meeting to be announced.
The levels are costs are
• Flag Football (K-2) $40.
• Minor (3-4) & Major (5-6)$80.
• Family (more than 1 player at a given level) $160.

PYFA is also looking for parents to coach or serve as volunteers. If you are interested in coaching, email Austin Weakfall at aweakfall@potsdam.k12.ny.us - include your name, phone number, certifications for sports (not a requirement), your football playing and coaching experience (new comers are welcomed), head or assistant coach.
