POTSDAM — The village is taking another small step, or pedal push rather, on its Downtown Revitalization Initiative effort.
The board agreed at their meeting Oct. 19 to partner with local artist James Gonzalez to pursue grant funding to pay for the creation of three original bicycle rack sculptures.
The bike racks will be installed downtown to support the village’s DRI effort.
The village and Gonzalez are applying for between $1,000 and $2,500 through the St. Lawrence County Arts Council’s Arts Re-Grant Program and there is no funding match requirement on the village’s part, said Village Trustee Maggie McKenna, who is the SLC Arts executive director.
McKenna abstained from the vote on the measure.
McKenna said the structures would be metal structures and require little ongoing maintenance.
