POTSDAM — The Potsdam Village Board of Trustees is expected to approve a proposal for a property survey of several lots off Raymond Street and handle other business at its regular meeting Monday, Nov. 7.

The board will start the meeting at 6 p.m. in the Civic Center Board room at 2 Park St.

On the agenda for board consideration and approval is a proposal submitted by Maine Land Surveying, PC to prepare boundary surveys for three parcels of land which will be part of a proposed Raymond-Depot Connector Street project.

Maine Land Surveying, PC will provide the surveys for a cost not to exceed $7,500.

The parcels will be used in connection with the Village of Potsdam’s DRI funded Downtown Streetscape and Riverwalk Trail Projects and the Northern Border Regional Commission funded Raymond-Depot Connector Street Project.

The village is expecting to pay the lion’s share of three upcoming engineering surveys for the project. The surveys cost $2,500 each. Local architect Brooks Washburn, who owns the Market Square Mall where his offices are located, agreed to contribute $1,000 towards the cost of the work, which lowers the village’s total cost to $6,500. Washburn is designing the project which village officials say will potentially open up access to Garner Park.

At the Oct. 17 village board meeting, village trustees voiced some concerns about potential parking space losses if the project comes to fruition.

During the meeting Nov. 7, the board also plans to recognize the passing of former Trustee and Deputy Mayor Helen Brouwer and recognize her many contributions to the Village of Potsdam community.

The board is also expected to approve Mayor Ron Tischler’s appointment of Sara Lynch of Walnut Street to serve out the unexpired term of Katherine Deuel as a regular member of the Village of Potsdam Planning Board. Lynch has served as an alternate member of the planning board, the agenda resolutions said.

Also, a resolution to allow free parking in downtown Potsdam during the Christmas shopping season from Nov. 19 to Dec. 31 will be considered by the board.

Prior to the regular village board meeting Nov. 7, the village will host a public hearing at 5:50 p.m. to receive comments from village residents on a local law to replace a portion of the fire prevention and building code with a new chapter.
