North Country This Week
POTSDAM -- The village board has approved a couple measures to improve downtown municipal buildings.
The board voted at their Oct. 5 meeting to spend $18,000 from the building reserve fund to repair the Civic Center roof above the library portion of the building.
The library itself is currently in the midst of an internal rehabilitation and enhancement project which is expected to be completed sometime this fall.
The village board also directed Mayor Ron Tischler to submit an application for funding from the Preservation League of New York State Technical Assistance Grant program. The funding would help pay for a building condition survey which would be focused on the windows of the Potsdam Public Museum.
The board also agreed to commit $1,200 of village money to the survey and to agree to hire the firm Crawford and Stearns, Architects and Preservation Planners as a design consultant to implement the grant.
