POTSDAM– The town board on Wednesday night approved an agreement with Tisdell Associates in the amount of $22,500 for engineering and technical services for improvements at Postwood Park.

Town board member Marty Miller in his recreation report updated fellow board members on the project which includes a beach house and changing room and revamping the concession stand.

Once the design work is complete, the job will be put out to bid in the late fall or early winter, Miller noted.

“Hopefully the work can be done this winter and be ready for the spring,” Miller stated.

The cost of the engineering work will be paid from American Rescue Act funds.

The town has been awarded $500,000 in rescue funds.

Miller also requested that a security system that includes internet service could be part of the project, citing recent break-ins in a vehicle and the concession stand. An estimate from NCC, said Miller, came in at $3,997.

“We looked at Postwood Park as an ideal location to put some funding into since the Recreation Department is under town ownership. When looking at Postwood, it seems like it has been neglected within the last 5 to 6 years and needs updates,” said Miller at a previous meeting.

Work on the bathrooms will make the facility compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

This work will be part of an overall master plan for the future of Postwood Park.
