POTSDAM — The Potsdam Town Board is getting ready to sort out its budget for the coming fiscal year.
At its meeting Sept. 14 the board passed a local law overriding the state mandated tax cap in case more levy is needed to balance the books.
Such laws are commonly passed by municipal governments as a precautionary measure.
Boards usually rescind the law after the budget is passed if an override is not needed.
The town board has scheduled budget work sessions for Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. and Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. during its regular meeting.
