POTSDAM – A housing rehabilitation grant of $230,000 for dwellings in the town of Potsdam, including the villages of Potsdam and Norwood, is sought by the Potsdam Planning and Development Office.
The Village and Town of Potsdam will prepare and submit a joint application to the North Country HOME Consortium to fix up owner-occupied houses that are in substandard condition.
The consortium comprises most of the cities, towns and villages in St. Lawrence, Lewis and Jefferson counties. Those municipalities are eligible to apply for grants through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development HOME Investment Partnership program.
Completion of previous housing rehabilitation grant programs in the town has not eliminated a waiting list of applicants.
“If Potsdam’s HOME application is successful, it is hoped that these applicants will be served as well as households that believe they may qualify for rehabilitation grants,” said Fred Hanss, director of the Potsdam Planning Office.
The application is being prepared and will be submitted in February.
