POTSDAM — The Potsdam Library’s LIFE Adult Literacy Program has several trained tutors available to help area adults improve their basic literacy skills or their speaking and listening skills if they are learning to use English as a new language.
The tutoring is provided free of charge to the learner, at a time convenient for the tutor and the learner. Meetings are held in a public place such as a Library or even outside when the weather permits.
New English speakers who would like to join a conversation group to improve their speaking and listening skills are welcome to join one of the Library’s conversation groups. These meet in the Potsdam Community Meeting Room on Mondays from 4:30-6:30 p.m., Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 9-10:30.
This is also a free program. Instruction is informal and useful for those who prefer instruction as a group member.
Anyone who has learned to speak English but feels they want to practice their new language to become more comfortable and confident with its use is encouraged to become a conversation partner.
This free program provides a native English speaker who will meet regularly for informal and relaxed conversation.
