POTSDAM -- Potsdam Fire Department members participated in an ice and water rescue training Sunday hosted by Parishville Fire Department .
At training, members were briefed on the safety protocols and concerns associated with ice/water rescue operations, fire officials said. Members were joined by multiple fire/rescue departments, NYS Forest Rangers, and the NYSP Dive Team.
As members were returning to service, Potsdam Fire, Rescue, and Car 10 were dispatched to a possible ice rescue behind Stewarts on Maple Street. No details from the incident were made available.
"The Potsdam Fire Department would like to remind the community that no ice is safe ice, and with the temperatures beginning to warm up, we remind everyone to stay off the ice," fire officials said.
