POTSDAM -- Elks Lodge #2074 is doing a candy bar drive through February.
The candy bars will be donated to the Fort Drum USO primarily for distribution to soldiers as they deplane at Fort Drum from overseas deployments.
The USO operates the "There When They Land" snack bar at the Fort Drum airfield and has found that one of the first requests returning soldiers have is for candy bars unavailable otherwise.
The bars will also be available for redeploying service members, active duty service members and recruits at the Fort Drum Main Center and, in the future, at the planned USO Center at the Syracuse Military Entrance Processing Station. Donations of funds or candy bars can be delivered to the Potsdam Elks Lodge, 10 Elm St. or sent to the Lodge at PO Box 415, Potsdam NY 13676-0415.
