POTSDAM -- Potsdam Central School Elementary Principal Jennifer Gray will take an eight-week medical leave of absence for maternity leave.

The Board of Education approved her leave of absence at their Sept. 8 meeting.

Nicole Weakfall, director of curriculum and instruction at PCS, will take over her responsibilities when Gray leaves.

It is expected Gray will begin maternity leave around Oct. 26.

Weakfall will be paid an additional $100 per day during this appointment, in addition to her regular salary.

A leave of absence was also approved for Bradley Filiatrault. This is expected to be for about eight weeks.

The board accepted the resignation of Lisa Hamm from the position of bus driver. She was later appointed to a custodial worker position, effective Aug. 31, at an annual salary of $32,567.

Hope Gilbert was appointed as head custodian by the board. This is retroactive to July 1. She will be paid an additional $5.500 per year for this appointment. Gilbert has been serving as long-term substitute in the position since October 1, 2018.
